The Workplace Support Services (WSS) operates independently of the EAP, offering a supportive case management model designed to address employee difficulties more directly. It involves the employee, a senior psychologist, and the manager/supervisor from Performance Engineering Group in collaborative discussions to identify issues, outline support processes, and set expectations for outcomes. The WSS includes initial assessment, regular case review meetings, and closing discussions.

One key aspect of the WSS is its emphasis on open dialogue between the employee and manager/supervisor, facilitated by the senior counsellor. This allows for coaching on how to better support the individual, which differs from the traditional EAP’s focus on confidentiality. Disclosure is limited to workplace concerns, with agreed-upon levels of detail shared with the organization at the outset of WSS implementation.

Positive outcomes have been achieved through the WSS for employees facing various challenges, including inappropriate workplace behaviour, anger management, depression, and issues related to return to work, absenteeism, alcohol, and drug misuse.
